As ACR Drilling, we once again brought our engineering capability and field-proven technology to one of Africa’s most challenging geographies — the deserts of Niger. Our ACR-2500D drilling rig, selected for a critical large-scale infrastructure project in the region, became the backbone of the operation with its outstanding performance under extreme climate and terrain conditions.

 

Project Background and Why ACR Drilling is Preferred in Africa

Large-scale infrastructure projects across Africa, especially in Niger, require zero tolerance for failure and maximum durability. In this critical infrastructure project aimed at solving the region’s water stress, our company became the preferred choice. The primary reason our machines are widely preferred throughout Africa is our international production standards and durability criteria fully adapted to even the harshest desert conditions.

Technical Specifications

Large-diameter operations, one of the project’s most critical technical requirements, are being carried out seamlessly thanks to the superior equipment of our ACR-2500D model.

    • Unique in Türkiye: The 17.5-inch rotary (morse) system integrated into our machine became the project’s greatest power advantage. We are proud to be the only company in Türkiye capable of designing and manufacturing a structure of this size and advanced technology.
  • Engine Power: The heavy-duty Caterpillar C18 700hp engine ensures uninterrupted torque production, allowing operations to continue without interruption.
  • Maximum Drilling and Pullback Capacity: The powerful wireline system provides a 150-ton pulling capacity, enabling safe and deep well operations up to 2500 meters.
  • Integrated Manufacturing Strength: International-standard chassis and mast systems are manufactured within our integrated ACR Metal facilities using high-strength special steels such as S355J2+N and Strenx MC700, providing complete protection against the abrasive effects of the desert and the harshest terrain conditions.

Next-Generation ACR Drilling Mud Pump: Our self-manufactured double-acting mud pump, with a flow rate of 2250 liters per minute, resistance up to 100 bar, 7.5x10 automatic lubrication system, and dampener pulsation absorber, plays a critical role in rapidly penetrating difficult formations.

ACR-2500D’s real operational data from the Niger field once again demonstrates the engineering quality of our machine.

·   24-Hour Continuous Operation with Extreme Heat Resistance: Despite scorching desert temperatures exceeding +45°C in the shade and reaching much higher under direct sunlight, our machine operated continuously for 24 hours without straining the deck engine or upper structure systems, maintaining full efficiency and rigid stability. Thanks to superior cooling and damping systems, operational safety was maintained at the highest level even under the most extreme climate conditions.

·   High Mud Pump Efficiency Against Loose Desert Sand: Loose desert sand layers, one of the region’s most challenging drilling conditions, were passed quickly without collapse or cave-in thanks to the high flow rate and pressure of our specially manufactured mud pump. This ensured complete well stabilization and allowed the operation to be completed successfully far ahead of schedule.

For us, the process does not begin when the machine leaves the factory nor end with delivery. What distinguishes ACR Drilling from its global competitors is our unwavering field operation support after sales.

As part of this major infrastructure project, our expert operator and technical team personally worked on-site in Niger and remained in the region for an extended period of 2 months. During this time, our team:

  • Demonstrated on-site how to operate the machine with maximum efficiency under desert conditions.
  • Provided one-on-one operational support at every stage until the customer’s personnel achieved full command of the machine.
